Uniting Science and Culture

Our team have been involved in the installation of over 1,000 Reef Stars at a variety of reef sites since 2020. Reef Stars help to kick start the recovery of sections of reef that have become degraded through destructive events such as extreme weather systems.

Reef Stars were developed by Mars Sustainable Solutions. The Reef Star Project is run by the The Reef Cooperative, a collaboration between MARS Australia, GBR Biology, Reef Unlimited, Citizens of the Reef, Dawul Wuru Aboriginal Corporation and Gunngandji PBC Aboriginal Corporation and supported by the founding funder, The Cotton On Foundation. These groups work collaboratively to achieve holistic conservation of coral reefs across the GBR.

Dreamtime Dive & Snorkel have began limited unique day tours planned to connect guests with the reef by including in the tour an opportunity to assist in installing more Reef Stars and learning more about our reef recovery initiatives. Get hands-on in this exciting site assisted recovery project through tying on coral fragments to Reef Stars which will then be directly installed onto the reef site by our dedicated team.
